Rev. Sallye Hardy

Rev. Sallye Hardy has spent her working life devoted to applying ‘Christ’s’ spirit and teaching in her life’s work. She began her professional life teaching at Chris Kraft Elementary School.
She was the first female pastoral student at Duke Divinity School in the early eighties.  Since graduation, her ministry has consistently combined working with children and families and local congregations in creative, life-giving ways.  For ten years, she pastored Community UCC in Nags Head, and owned and operated its first, state-licensed, child care center for the working families of that resort community.  She recently completed five years as Bon Secours’ first pediatric Hospice Chaplain.  Currently, while serving at Warwick UCC, she works with Camp Selah Ministries providing a camp setting for children and their families.
“Most of what I know of God, I have learned from young children,” Rev. Hardy states.  “They bring to us an openness, a creativity and awe that is life giving IF we create safe places for them to be.  So it is with the church.  The church must be a safe place – theologically open, spiritually challenging and full of opportunities where people can grow in their faith and faithfulness.”
Simply put, Rev. Hardy loves Scripture and people and holds great confidence in our abilities to live great lives that bring light into so many times of darkness. BTW, she loves to text.. so text her at 804-350-1187.
